Melinda Nicci's Proven Skincare Routine for A Healthier, More Youthful Complexion

Listen in! We're spilling the tea on Melinda's go-to skincare routine that she's sworn by for years. Not only is she the founder and CEO of Baby2Body, a leading voice in the London tech scene, and mum to two stellar kids -- she's also a bit of a skincare guru.Today also happens to be her birthday and since she continues to defy the laws of aging and rewrite the script on what 50+ looks like for women, we thought it was the perfect opportunity to snag her skincare secrets and share them with you.She dished on her nighttime and morning routines, the products she's loving, and shared her top three surprising skincare rules that have kept her skin healthy and glowing for years. Without further ado, here's what we found out:

Alright, walk us through your skincare day, what does that look like and what are your must-have products?

Every morning starts with a quick cleanse after I've woken up just to refresh my skin from the night. I stay away from harsh cleansers, and lately, I've been loving the Elemis Gentle Foaming Face Wash.Another must is a quality eye serum because that skin is so delicate and it's often an area that shows our age. So it deserves a bit of extra attention. My go-to here is the Alpha-H Liquid Gold Firming Eye Cream. All I can say is, it is liquid gold. Then the last step is a face moisturizer with at least 30 SPF. There are loads of great products on the market but I've been using the Elemis Pro-Collagen Marine Cream for a while because I love the additional collagen support and it has the SPF protection I'm looking for. After that, I'm ready to apply whatever makeup I might wear that day, and with that, I make sure to choose products that work well for me and treat my skin kindly. Don't forget that your makeup spends a lot of time in contact with your skin, so it's kind of an extension of your skincare.

So that covers the 3 key steps of your morning routine. What do you do at the end of the day to reset?

The most important part is making sure I fully remove every last bit of makeup from the day. I really take time on this step, because you need to let your skin breathe, and it's the only way the skin care products you use will be able to do their job. I've always used Estee Lauder Take It Away on some cotton pads to get that clean slate. After that I go in for a proper, deep cleanse, using my Clarisonic brush along with an oil-based cleanser -- Origins Clean Energy is a great staple. But, if I've just worked out that evening I'll use a gentle foaming cleanser instead.Once I've taken everything off my skin that shouldn't be there, I make sure to replenish it. I start by using a toner, usually Lancome Re-Hydrating Toner, and then I go in with a Vitamin C serum (Alpha H is my mainstay) and seal it in with Emma Hardie's Brilliance Facial Oil.The last step is more love for the eyes! Lately, I've been using the Ren Keep Young and Beautiful Eye Cream at night and really loving it.

And are there any other skincare treatments or quick tricks you do on a regular basis?

I very rarely get facials, but I do frequently get lymphatic massages, which helps move toxins out of your body and that definitely impacts the health of our skin.I'll do an at-home moisturizing mask maybe once every two weeks, and then if I'm on my period or feeling more oily than normal I'll go for a clay-based detoxifying mask. The only other thing I'll mention is my travel routine, probably because I do a lot of air travel... and I mean a lot! I always bring face wipes, the Simple ones great, to wash my face before and after getting on a plane. I'll also apply an extra hydrating moisturizer because air travel can really dry your skin out, so it's important to give it that added attention.

Brilliant! Lastly, are there any skincare rules you live by that might surprise people?

I'll give you 3 quick ones:

  1. A little sun is a good thing. You don't want to bake out there, but a bit of sunshine to get Vitamin D can be good for your skin.

  2. Stronger products don't mean better products. I find harsh, stripping cleansers or exfoliators can take more from the skin than they give and actually lead to more breakouts or complexion imbalances.

  3. Don't be afraid of oils! If you're using quality oils formulated specifically for the face it can do you a world of good, helping to balance natural oils, act as antimicrobial agents and reduce inflammation.
